The project.

Every summer, thousands of Québecers head to the sand to play one of the world's fastest-growing recreational sports. Yet each winter, that momentum disappears—not because the passion fades, but because the opportunity does.

Québec has already established an extensive indoor volleyball network that continues to expand. Alongside it, a passionate beach volleyball community has grown each summer, only to reset each winter.

The principal objective and long-term vision of Aloha Beach Volley (ABV) is to provide continuity for the sport and its players throughout the long winter season while establishing a cultural and athletic landmark that reflects Québec's passion for sport, inclusivity, and innovation.

At its core, this project is about cultivating the welcoming spirit of beach volleyball and celebrating its unique ability to bring people together and build communities.

The location, number of courts, and services will be defined as the project develops, informed by your feedback.

What we envision

  • Multiple indoor beach volleyball courts
  • FIVB-quality sand
  • High ceilings
  • Year-round climate control
  • Diverse beach volleyball programming

Potential additions: other sports programming (such as sand soccer or beach tennis), a strength and conditioning gym, showers and locker rooms.

Two possible layouts

Option 1
Three courts and a gathering space
Option 2
Three courts, gym, and locker rooms

Concept layouts under consideration. The final configuration will depend on the selected location and how the project develops.

Mission

To grow the sport of beach volleyball by creating an indoor environment designed for the game, where players can develop their skills, connect with others, and maintain an active, healthy lifestyle year-round.
